Hummingbird' is a summersweet that will reach 3-4' tall and wide and is great for small garden spaces and low hedging. It produces large clusters of white, fragrant blooms during the summer that attract lots of beneficial pollinators.
Einstein Summersweet. Einstein' summersweet produces an abundance of long, curly white panicle blooms that attract bees, butterflies and other pollinators. It has a compact growth habit and will reach 3-4' tall and wide.
Vanilla Spice Summersweet. 'Vanilla Spice' is a popular variety of summersweet that produces large clusters of fragrant, white panicle blooms that persist through summer. It is a compact variety that will reach 4-6' tall and wide at maturity.
Arctic Sun Dogwood. The 'Arctic Sun' dogwood has glorious, orange-yellow stems that are exposed in the winter. Light-green foliage turns shades of orange and yellow in the fall. Keeps a compact habit, growing 3-4' tall and wide.
Plants are vigorous, producing long shoots from soil level one growing season and bearing fruit the next. These are removed after bearing and replaced by the current year's growth. This makes the plant easy to prune and manage as a bush. Large fruit clusters with good flavor ripen in August each year. Berries have very high anthocyanin content--very good for you! This is the more productive variety, but both varieties are required for cross pollination in a ratio of 1 Samyl : 5 Samdal.
This variety will provide good cross-pollination when paired with the Samdal variety. Samyl has particularly high-quality flowers.has a vigorous, bushy habit that is similar to Samdal, but not as dense. Plants are partially self fruitful, but planting two S. nigra cultivars will assure better fruit production for both.
Mt. Airy' fothergilla produces white, bottlebrush blooms in the spring before foliage emerges. It will reach 4-6' tall and wide at maturity. Blue-green foliage turns vibrant shades of orange and red in the fall.
