Compact Inkberry. The 'Compact' inkberry keeps a dense, rounded habit, growing 4-6' tall and wide. It is a slow grower and can easily be pruned back if desired. This variety can handle full sun or part shade and does well in moist soils, making this a great option for foundation areas that retain water. Black berries will appear in fall and persist through winter when paired with a pollinator, such as the 'Nordic'.
Shamrock Compact Inkberry. This compact form of the native inkberry has lustrous dark green leaves. It is a slow growing, evergreen shrub that will reach 3-4' tall and wide. Tolerates wet sites. Excellent for foundation planting and hedging.
The 'Jim Dandy' is a male pollinator for early-flowering, female winterberry. It will not produce berries, but has rich-green foliage. It will reach 6-8' tall and wide. Plant one for ever five females in the area.
Goshiki' false holly is an attractive, evergreen shrub with striking variegated foliage that has a texture similar to holly leaves. It will slowly reach 8-10' tall and 6-8' wide in ideal conditions. Foliage emerges orange and red, adding a pop of color during the growing season. Can be kept smaller with pruning.
