The PawPaw tree is a native of the Eastern U.S. and can grow from 15-30' tall and wide. It produces a mildly sweet, yellow-greenish fruit in mid-late summer that is great for raw eating and baking.
Mt. Airy' fothergilla produces white, bottlebrush blooms in the spring before foliage emerges. It will reach 4-6' tall and wide at maturity. Blue-green foliage turns vibrant shades of orange and red in the fall.
Compact Inkberry. The 'Compact' inkberry keeps a dense, rounded habit, growing 4-6' tall and wide. It is a slow grower and can easily be pruned back if desired. This variety can handle full sun or part shade and does well in moist soils, making this a great option for foundation areas that retain water. Black berries will appear in fall and persist through winter when paired with a pollinator, such as the 'Nordic'.
Morus rubra, or Red Mulberry, is a deciduous tree that may grow to 30 feet with a short trunk about 2 feet in diameter and a dense, spreading crown.The Red mulberry is best grown in rich, moist, well-drained soils in full sun to part shade. It will be at its best in full sun. Prune in late fall or winter to avoid bleeding.

The 'Black Cat' pussy willow is a large variety that grows 10-15' tall and wide. In early spring, silvery-pink catkins appear and quickly turn jet black. Catkins are eye-catching and soft to the touch.
