It is very fussy about its soil conditions and must have rich, acidic soils to ensure success, and is subject to chlorosis (yellowing) of the foliage in alkaline soils. It is highly tolerant of urban pollution and will even thrive in inner city environments. This particular variety is an interspecific hybrid.
The 'Natchez' is an extremely popular variety due to its size and its true-white white, panicle flowers that bloom profusely throughout the summer. This variety will quickly reach 20-30' tall and 15-20' wide. Its foliage turns vibrant, orange-red in the fall.
